Spa Tables Guide
Spa Tables or Spa Beds are unique in both form and function. Spa tables are used in Day Spas, Medical Spas, Laser Centers, Tattoo parlors, Dermatology and Cosmetic offices to name a few.
Spa tables are multi-functional and can be positioned with clients in a comfortable seated position or lying down in the prone position. Spa beds can accommodate a number of treatments and modalities including, esthetics, massage, laser treatments, injections and more. Most spa tables are wider than their Facial Bed counterparts, so they can be used for both massage and spa treatments.
Spa tables usually have 3 or 4 section electric or manual tops. The 3 section top is sufficient for supporting the back and raising the knees. 4 section tops offer more comfort and versatility for positioning the client. Electric tops are preferred over manual tops as clients can be comfortably positioned while on the table. Manual spa tops usually require the patient to move and take pressure of the area being re-positioned or to dismount the table altogether.
Other important features to consider are electric or hydraulic lift versus a manual height adjustment. Again, the electric or manual adjustments are much more convenient for both the client and practitioner. This is most critical in settings where multiple practitioners are sharing the same space. Different heights will be required and tables that need manual height adjustment will take time you don’t have for set up. It’s also impossible to manually adjust table height with the client already on the table. If it’s in your budget, we highly recommend electric or hydraulic lift spa tables.
Cabinets and shelves are also nice features. These spa tables generally cost more, but do offer a convenient place to store sheets, oils and lotions and even a hot towel cabinet. This allows you to never leave the clients side, making seamless transition between treatments. Most accessories are purchased separately, but some tables already include the armrests, face rest, salon pillows and neck rolls. Look for these options when buying your spa table as they can significantly add to the cost if they’re not already included.
